In a nutshell

  • On 29.09.2026 Meta launched “Muse for Small Business”, an AI agent for insights, campaigns, emails and finances.

  • At launch it’s only available in the US and Canada, and no EU date is official.

  • Austria is well ahead on AI, with 30% of companies using it against an EU average of 20%.

  • You can make your accounts, tracking, brand voice and approval rules agent-ready now.

Meta Muse for Small Business has been live since 29 September and promises you an intern who never sleeps. The AI agent reads your Instagram insights, ad data and Shopify numbers, writes drafts and suggests campaigns. The catch for you is that at launch it’s only available in the US and Canada. For marketing managers in Austria, that’s still no reason to lean back.

What can Meta Muse for Small Business actually do?

Muse is Meta’s personal AI agent, unveiled on 8 September. The business version analyses sales, campaigns and social activity, draws up growth plans from them, spots unusual spending and prepares email replies (Help Net Security). To do this, Muse docks onto Instagram business accounts, Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts, plus tools like Canva, Shopify, Klaviyo, Slack, Stripe, Notion and QuickBooks (Meta). In the process Meta learns what you sell, how you sound and what your customers keep asking (TechCrunch).

For social media, that means Muse works out from your own numbers which posts and ads performed well recently and builds new campaign drafts on that. The routine work, from reporting to the first text suggestion, moves over to the agent. What’s left for you is what no agent delivers, namely values, timing and a feel for what fits your brand.

The safety line holds. According to Meta, nothing gets published, sent or spent without your approval. In plain English, the agent drafts and you decide. Most features are free, and for more scope there are subscription plans of up to 100 US dollars a month, according to MediaPost.

One day earlier, on 28 September, Meta also launched the Meta Enterprise Platform with Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. So Meta is going after the small and the big at the same time. If you only see social media as a posting channel, you’ve missed the playing field.

Why isn’t Muse available in Austria (yet)?

At launch Meta only names the US and Canada (Meta). As far as we know, there’s no official date for Europe. schieb.de names GDPR, the AI Act and the Digital Markets Act as friction points. A look at history helps put this in context. Meta AI launched in the US in September 2023 and, according to this overview, only reached the EU in March 2025, around 18 months later. Plan in months, not weeks. But the fact that the icon is already available in Instagram points to sooner rather than later.

Austria isn’t falling behind because of this, quite the opposite. 30% of Austrian companies with 10 or more employees used AI in 2025, against an EU average of 20% (Statistik Austria, 24 June 2026). Since 2021 that’s gone up from 9% to 30%. This is lived reality here. Among companies thinking about AI, 15% name a lack of know-how, and 11% each name data protection and legal uncertainty as a brake. That’s exactly where your head start begins.

“The agent comes later. You need your data foundation now.”

What does this mean strategically for SMEs and large companies?

For SMEs, Muse is the answer to Meta’s own diagnosis. According to Meta, small businesses have too few hours, not too few ideas. The workflows behind it exist without Muse too. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and co. plus Canva, Klaviyo or Zapier offer similar shortcuts, just without Meta’s data access to insights and ad accounts.

Then there’s a social media effect that many underestimate. When every brand generates drafts with the same agents, the feed gets even more interchangeable. The winners will be accounts that bring a clear voice, real faces and their own data. The tools will be the same, your material won’t.

Large companies should read the Enterprise Platform as a signal. According to Zuckerberg, Meta, the company that helps “hundreds of millions of businesses” with customer contact, now wants to add its next business pillar. If you don’t have rules for approvals, data protection and AI labelling by now (see our post on the AI Act), you’ll be slowing yourself down later.

Here’s the bold claim. An agent is only as smart as your setup. Chaos in, chaos out. That’s exactly where we at oha! are clearing up with clients right now, before agents get access.

How do you make your marketing agent-ready in 5 steps?

  1. Declutter your accounts. Instagram business account, Facebook Page, ad account and Business Manager properly linked, roles clarified, legacy baggage gone.

  2. Check your tracking. Pixel, Conversions API and UTM logic have to be right, otherwise the agent analyses numbers that lie.

  3. Document your brand voice. Put tone, no-gos, best-of posts and the ten most common customer questions into one document. That’s food for any agent.

  4. Set approval rules. Who can do what without a human in the loop? Think about data protection and AI labelling at the same time.

  5. Test one workflow. 30 days, one use case (for example content drafts or reporting), one KPI such as hours saved or cost per lead. Big brands start as a pilot with clear governance.

Once that’s done, you can switch on the day of the EU launch instead of having to tidy up first. The side effect is almost more valuable. Clean accounts and reliable numbers improve your campaigns today, whether an agent is reading along or not. That’s exactly why at oha! we always start AI and performance marketing projects with this foundation.

Want to know where your setup stands? Then send us a short enquiry, and we’ll look together at your accounts, tracking and the right AI workflows for your team.
