Black Friday, baby. And everyone's going crazy.

Black Friday, baby. And everyone's going crazy.

Black Friday, baby. And everyone's going crazy.

November isn't just a month. November is a state of emergency. Everything is flashing red in Ads Manager, every other client wants to “push something through real quick”, and someone is always shouting: can we still make something out of this?

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Christmas prep.
And somewhere in between: overwhelmed budgets and too many PDFs featuring "last-minute promo ideas".

When should you start planning for Black Friday?

Ideally as early as August or September. The earlier you prepare budgets, creatives, and target audiences, the better you can cushion rising CPMs and falling conversion rates in November.

The Black Friday reflex: as long as it's loud, as long as it's cheap.

The classic move:
20% off everything – except what actually works.

The problem isn't the sale. It's the reflex.
When 200 brands scream at the same time, everything goes quiet.
And if you keep pushing the price down, you eventually drown in the sea of offers.

Is Black Friday marketing even worth it anymore?

Yes – but not for every brand. If you position yourself on price, you can benefit. If you communicate through quality, design, or brand values, you should use alternative strategies, like pre- or post-Black Friday campaigns offering genuine added value.

Performance in Q4 isn't a sprint; it's more like a chaotic half marathon where someone keeps rerouting the course.
CPMs shoot up, conversion rates drop, retargeting gets pricier, and organically... you might as well forget it anyway.

But! If you take a systematic approach, you can still perform exceptionally well – without sliding into discount hell.

Q4 – Do this and save yourself the rest…

1. Focus on those who already know you.
Existing customers perform better in Q4 than any cold audience.
Leverage CRM, email, and Custom Audiences before chasing new leads who are already caught up in sale frenzy.

2. Visibility with values instead of blind actionism.
You don't have to discount to stay relevant.
An honest statement like "No sale, just added value" often hits harder than -30% off something you don't even rate yourself anymore.

3. Test instead of hitting blindly.
Start early, test variations, let the data decide.
If you only launch on Black Friday, you're playing marketing roulette – and the house always wins.

Which channels perform best in Q4?

Meta (Facebook & Instagram) remains strong, Google PMax is growing – but email and CRM automations are the most efficient. Existing customers respond considerably better than cold audiences during this period.

AI, automation & the myth of the hands-free success

AI sounds like "easy peasy", but it's like an electric car without a battery – sounds familiar, right?
Meta Advantage+, Google PMax, DPA – great tools, but without a clean data foundation, they're completely useless.

Q4 performance is built in Q3.
If you're only structuring things now, sorry but you’re too late for the party. Automation, AI, and all the cool new data models help, but they can't work miracles – especially if you lack a strategy. If you still don't have a clear goal for your campaign by now, you're better off dropping it entirely. #sorrynotsorry

What are common mistakes in Q4 campaigns?

Starting too late, testing too little, and targeting too broadly. Plus: simply letting campaigns run on after Black Friday, even though user intent has completely flipped.

Q4 isn't chaos. It's a stress test.

Q4 mercilessly reveals whether your brand carries weight.
Whether your messaging lands.
Whether your funnel actually works.

If you make it through November without completely losing your identity, you've understood how performance and brand belong together.

How can I make my campaigns stand out from the crowd?

With relevance instead of discounts. Explain why you're not having a sale, or tie your campaign to a genuine purpose – such as donations, sustainability, or exclusive consulting rather than price cuts.

Black Friday isn't an event.
It's a reality check.
